GPU advice?

My rx480 8gb just about copes with 1440p with a fancy monitor and freesync Pro. Games on medium settings mostly if they are demanding games.
I couldn't get cyberpunk to run that well unless I set most settings to minum.

If your limit is £300 then you'll need to wait a bit longer for a worthwhile 1440p card I'm afraid.

LHR 3060 Ti's aren't too much above that price at the moment, nor are 6700XT's. I wouldn't get anything less powerful than these cards for 1440p. It won't be a good investment and you'll find yourself wanting more graphics power very quickly.

Been saying it for ages.

Sell 1440p monitor.

Buy 1080p monitor.

Use a cheap GPU for the rest of your life.

If you can only afford £300 it makes zero sense to have a 1440p monitor.

Are you all ignoring the fact that the OP wants a temporary "stop gap" card?

The OP never said £300 was all he could afford. It's the max he/she is prepared to spend as a temporary "stop gap untill prices come down and better stock etc."

The final GPU (when prices return to normal) could be a 3060Ti or a 3070 or a 3080 etc. So why tell him to sell his 1440p monitor???

Exactly that^^

Though the 1080ti was a sound suggestion. Ultimately, you're a bit screwed, what card do you have atm?

Right now 1660s/ti are a joke of a price when the 2060 can come in at same price, but then the 3060 is in reachable price when good prices happen. As is the 6600xt which punches faster.

Braving the second hand market is about your only realistic choice if you're only going to use it for a short time.

Get a 3060Ti or a 3070 FE at MSRP
Good for 1440p, no need for stopgap, best price/performance of anything you could get now.

Yeah spending £300 on a 6 year old GPU with no warranty makes perfect sense.

I don't understand the point of a stop gap £300 card with no warranty when he can get a 3060ti for £450-£500 brand new.

Paying £300 for a 1080ti would literally be the worst move he could make. Which is why if he's really constrained by budget go 1080p or just pay the £200 more and get the card you need.

As title really, need a gpu (gaming at 1440p). What would you guys recommend for £300 mark? used or new as a stop gap untill prices come down and better stock etc.

I bought an Radeon RX 560 4GB for £150 as a stop-gap card. It is awful and very painful, my eyes are full with tears :(

For £400 you can get that bad card, my head can't get what happened with the graphics cards.
It's just the worst hell ever.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £408.89 (includes shipping: £9.90)

Personally I'd just play old games until next year or buy an Xbox/PlayStation. £400 for a low end gaming card is a joke

It is ludicrous.
Back in 2009 I bought the highest-end Radeon HD 4890 for $195, today they want $1000 for the same performance segment.
I will never accept it, better to stay without a computer forever.
