GPU affinity question

Hi,

Running GPU folding with WinXP on a dual core PC.

Also running rosetta@home.

I've checked the 'do not lock cores to specific cpu' box, which is supposed to allow Fahcore to use any cpu core to work with..

*BUT*

I find that when I right click fahcore_11.exe in task manager and go into 'set affinity', a lot of the time it has only one core checked.

I then check the other one, and all seems well. Fahmon reports higher ppd, and away I go.

However, I find that every time it finishes a wu and gets another, the core restarts and its back to one cpu in the 'set affinity' screen.

And so on...

Any one any ideas as to why this is, or indeed if it makes any difference?

Or, best of all, how to cure it?

Is it anything to do with the 'core network address' thingy?

Hope someone can help....:)

Doing the same as you, but adding seti to the boinc mix, I never mess with the affinity stuff, seems to work ok without it. Main diff is I am running Vista64 which may give me an edge because of the low CPU useage.

Well, basically, I'm looking for a way to force the GPU client to use both cores all the time, without having to mess with them manually...

The 'Do NOT lock cores...' thingy doesn't seem to do it for me..

I'll keep looking.

;)

I don't know about the cores, but have you tried setting the GPU client to 'slightly higher' priority so it has priority over Rosetta?
