Hi guys, currently I have a ryzen 5 2600, and rx580 and 16gb of ram. For my birthday, im looking to upgrade both my GPU and CPU, spending about 150 on the cpu, and 300 ideally, but possibly more for the gpu if necessary. Currently im looking at a ryzen 5 5600x, but not sure about the gpu. I haven't got a preference as to what brand, however, my PC building knowledge is weak. and i not sure if nvidia or intel would even be compatible. I'm also going to upgrade my monitor (likely to a 1440p 144hz unless my pc wouldnt be able to handle that). Any advice would be much appriciated, Thanks.

For £500 or so, I would recommend these upgrades:

CPU: 5600 (non-x) these are a lot easier to cool than the 5600x, cheaper and crucially, performing very close to each other. ie there is no reason to get the 5600x.
If you have the budget then the AM4 end-game CPU is the 5700x3d, but this may be out of the budget.
Before you swap the CPU out, you WILL NEED to perform a bios update on the motherboard first.

Ram: 32gb (2x 16gb kit) ddr4 3200mhz

GPU: if you're willing to tinker then intel arc b580, else then you'll be stuck with the rtx 5060.
I wouldn't get a 5060ti 8gb as these aren't worth the money. Either the 5060, or the 5060ti 16gb, but the latter is out of your price range.
If you don't mind waiting then you could see what the Radeon 9060 brings to the table.
If you don't mind going used, could possibly see if the 4070 comes close to budget.
Thank you very much for the advice, My only question is: a nvidia gpu wont cause any issues? I vaguely remember from when i built the pc being recommended to keep everything same brand, but im just making sure. thank you very much again
