GPU and games like FM 2011

Hi all, I have ordered parts for own new build, and my brother has asked if I could look into updating his 4 year old dell when I get my own built.
He mainly uses his PC for surfing the web and watching videos, but also plays a lot of Football Manager 2011, and probably 2012 when its released.
He wants any upgrade to enable him to play FM2011 as fast as possible, and just have a PC that is generally quick loading and doing general operations.
What I'm wondering is, how much impact does the GPU have on games like these, as I cant imagine it would be pushing the GPU much.
Asus ATI Radeon HD 6950 1GB
ATI 5850 1 GB
Would getting the more expensive have any impact on how quickly FM will play, or could I even get away with a cheaper one, but if everything else is up to scratch, ram, ssd etc, the game will run as fast as possible?
Cheers

I play football manager on my dell laptop which has integrated graphics and it still runs pretty quick that 6950 would EASILY run fm11/12. Its your CPU & RAM that needs to be good - im sure running it off an SSD would be insanely quick too

I know that the 6950 will easily run it, what I'm wondering is how big an influence the GPU has on how fast the game runs, could I get away with a cheaper one, and if so which?

I dont know off the top of my head, but its a 4-5 year old dell that cost about £2000 back in the day.
I will be buying a new mobo, cpu and ram, so most likely an MSI P67A GD53, i5 2500k and prob 8 gb of ram, for the PC.
He doesnt mind spending a bit of cash to have it running fast for FM, so thats why I'm wondering will a gpu around 100 be much different to a £200 card for FM, theres no point in spending the extra if it won't really speed up the game.

FM probably will not even use like 5-10% of a £200+ card, really not worth it unless they want to play other games too.
