I have been feeling the itch to go ultra-wide for a while, from what i have see it look grate and is fantastic for productive and gaming.

This has been part of my plan during my watercooling update.

The question is, in terms of value is G-SYNC or freesync worth the additional layout. Noting that anything on the freesync side I will have to wait for Vega to drive it as i want a 3440x1440 Resolution.

I plan to use this display when i work form home, video and Photo editing and gaming, but I'm not into anything too competitive so 100+Hz does feel worth it for me.

I feel I have a few options.

go the for full fat G-Sync

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,670.68
(includes shipping: £11.70)

:eek::eek::eek:

wait for Vega ?? Samsung CF791?? or another freesync monitor that is not 100Hz

or just don't bother and go for something like this?

I will be water-cooling and overclocking my GPU.

So G-SYNC ultra-wide will cost me £500 more and looking at benchmarks the 1070 can push the frames to drive this panel at its refresh rates. also with the gaming i do, I never have had a big problem with V-SYNC.

But the cost is just crazy.... what GPU using?

Is it worth it over a 60-75hz panel that you can drive at the correct refresh rate?

I do admit it needs power. I use a TXP but a 1080 will do the job well for you if you can stretch the budget.Plenty of guys on here having good results with 1080 on these monitors.100Hz Gsync is excellent imo.

It's not all about cost, the difference is a lot. I could get a GTX 1080 and it still be over £300 cheaper to go for the LG panel.

I am a bit reluctantly to get a second hand GPU for 3-6 months then get a new one. Re-doing my hardline loop is not a quick job and a fury will probably require me to move my res due to length.

Break out the wallet, say nothing to herself, buy the predator or the asus and buy a 1080. You won't be disappointed.:)

as much as I could afford it, I just don't think I can justify that much as it looks like I would need a 1080 as well taking this to over £1700, when I can get a grate experience for much less?

I don't have massive issues with tearing or stuttering and I'm running a 960 at 1080p. Is it more apparent at higher resolutions and the 21:9 format?

is anybody running a 60-70Hz ultrawide freesync monitor with a nvidia 1070? or is it a must to buy into the Red vs Green adaptive tech.

Then just get a 27" 1440p freesync system. Easier on the wallet, don't need a monter GPU.

From what I understand 1440 ultra-wide isn't that much harder to driver and the benchmarks I have seen show a 1070 will drive most games (the ones that need to anyway) at high and ultra above 70FPS. I don't play loads of FPS games so 100Hz+ dosn't really attract me.

Freesync and gsync sound grate but gsync in ultrawide format just looks crazy expensive and AMD don't really have GPU that can drive it.

So I'm stuck with going crazy high end, waiting for Vega (6 months) or just giving up on adaptive sync all together.

X34 u want a 1080.. 1070 isn't enough tbh.. also don't go for this low refresh freesync crap..

Just spend the money and u wont have to upgrade for a few years..

Don't buy into the hype. Besides for CS:GO high hz gaming is WAY overrated. I would on the other hand absolutely get adaptive sync monitor. Is the Gsync premium worth it? From what you're telling us I'd say no, and you have more monitors available with Freesync that could be a great value proposition for you. Will re-doing the loop suck if you go with a 480/Fury now and upgrade to Vega later? Yes. But it boils down to this: Time or money. Got time? Go AMD. Got money? Go Nvidia. Either way, you'll have to give up on one of them for what you want - that's life.

I could always get the LG or similar and run my 960 for a tuch longer and drop to 1080 resolution when I need to, The Vega demos look promising and if it comes in the right price could be very interesting.

true and even if push came to shove you could run the lg in 16.9 mode if needed with the 960
