Right, I finally got my X1950 Pro yesterday and have started running the GPU client on Vista.

Has anyone managed to get the GPU client to run as a service on Vista? I can run it fine from the console, but I can't start the service, neither manually nor automatically. It just throws up an error.

Also, are you GPU peeps with a dual-core CPU using just one CPU core to fold or two cores with one on reduced capacity :)

I don't think the GPU can run as a service yet :(

Most people will be folding on 1 CPU core and using 1 core to poll the GPU.

Running 2 CPU clients and a GPU can actually reduce output I think.

oceaness is correct, the service doesn't work with the GPU client yet - it is still in BETA. It might not work in Vista anyway...

If you have a single core CPU, then you can only run the GPU client

If you have a multi-core CPU, then one core MUST be kept free for just the GPU client. Running a CPU and GPU client on the same core/cpu will reduce the performance of both by half.

Yeah that's what I've been reading about running dual-cores and the gpu client.

I tried the supposed workaround for running it as a service in XP (ticking the 'Allow service to interact with desktop' box) but it isn't working in Vista for me.

Find the service in the services window, bring up the properties, find the option 'Allow service to interact with desktop', check the box and try again.

Tends to work in XP but I'm not sure about Vista.

(edit) Beaten :p
