GPU Backplate

Hello, could anyone tell me if a Backplate is needed for the EK full cover blocks please? I get the feeling theyre just make it look pretty.

Depends on the card but in general it's just for support and to look good

Some cards have rear counted vram chips, in which case a backplate cools these too.

I think they are worth it, they look nice, strengthen the PCB, plus they can provide VRM cooling if they come with thermal pads etc. Do you have to buy them though? No, not at all.

My GTX 480 backplate cost half the price of the block

I'm glad I bought it tho, it adds a nice finish as as Oblivion said strengthens the mount and PCB.
