Hello forum folk, I have a couple of questions before I lay out for a new GPU.

Current system

MSI Z77A-GD65
8GB Memory
3570k Processor (Not overclocked, I just cannot afford to replace if something goes wrong)
MSI 670GTX Twin Forzr (or whatever it was called lol, managed to pick it up on OCUK when it was under £200)
Zalman Z9 Case
1920x1080 Monitor (BenQ G2420HD)

I was thinking about picking this up

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-32a-ms.html

MSI GTX 1070 Gaming (1070 is pushing it price wise so cannot go up to 1080)

However I have 2 concerns, the first and foremost does anybody have the same Case + Card as I do as I am having trouble trying to figure out if it is going to fit with the position of the power connectors and the length.

Second concern is about any bottlenecks

I do play on upgrading my whole PC at some point and obtaining 16GB of memory but right now I could really do with a beefier card with more than 2GB of ram.

I can't comment on the case/card size query, but there'll be no problem with regard to bottlenecks (overclocking your CPU would be helpful, though).

I really wouldn't worry about overclocking your CPU. To get started, all you need to do is to alter the multiplier in the bios. Just keep an eye on the temps for a few days, that's all. Pushing it further will require more tweaking/reading up, but to move from stock speeds to around 4ghz - 4.2ghz should be very easily achievable. That's what I did when I had the same processor, and I found the temps to never be a problem whatsoever - even at first when I was just running the stock cooler.

Btw, have you seen this model? https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-339-ms.html

That's the 1070 I'd be looking at if I was upgrading from your card. The card's measurements are 279mm x 140mm.

Yeah, not sure what the differences are though. To me it just looks like color difference.

1070 = 279mm x 140mm
670gtx = 267mmx 116mm

If it does fit it is going to be really tight but if it doesn't I am stuck with a card til I cant use til I get a new case unless OCUK would take it back.

An additional comment, I have a Corsair HX750i but see no mention of an 8 pin connector for the GPU in the description for it

ATX Connector: 1
- EPS Connector: 2
- Floppy Connector: 2
- Four Pin Peripheral Connector: 8
- PCI Connector: 6
- SATA Connector: 12

I only purchased this last year.

The 6 PCI connectors are all 6+2 Pins ( can either be used as a 6 Pin, or an 8 Pin), and the card should fit fine, as according to a review of the case, it'll take upto 290mm cards. :)

Its not the length that bothers me its the distance to the case considering where the power connectors are, its nearly a tight fit with the one I have now I am not 100% if it could take a card an extra 2.4cm in height.

Edit
its not so much the card but the lame cables that dont bend so I got them kind of looping around themselves and they dont have much give.

I can post a picture if you want to see what I mean, the cable takes up more space than the plastic PCIE connector.

Edit 2
Ill double check I got the money then just decide between the two to get.
