For all those unsure about Graphics cards, and needing some simplified visualisations below are two graphs:

Like to see what an unlocked 6950->6970 would turn out in that bottom chart!

Edit : Assuming same FPS as 6970 and cost of $299, that makes it 1.27, just below the 460

It's a bit too over simplified for my liking, for example does it take into consideration the recent big price drops of the GTX 480? or the fact you can flash a 6950 into a 6970?

Also what's going on with the GTX 460 768MB SLi results  Something seriously amiss there!

I'm curious to know, what resolution are they being tested on? From some reviews I've seen the 6900 series scales well with crossfire on higher resolutions compared to 500 series SLi, but SLi does better on lower resolutions.

I imagine the 5850 would be on the top 3.

Good to see the gtx 460 1gb is (as it's known) a good bang for buck choice.

one thing to remember when looking at this sort of chart, although they do give a fairly good indication of bang per buck, it is exactly that, per buck. pricing over there isn't necessarily representative of pricing over here.

also another thing to think about, pricing fluctuates very quickly in the graphics card market and although the article is dated the 15th of January to coincide with the cayman launch it was properly written a good week or maybe even two before, making it already a month out of date, and a month in GPU pricing is an age.

still a nice articles though......:p
