Hi i have managed to get some offers on 3 cards, just undecided as to which would be the most cost effective.

Only game at 1080p currently, however next year I will probably move to 1440p I think.

I can get either a Gigabyte GTX 980 Windforce 3X for £339
or a MSI GTX 980 Gaming for £366

or should i go for a EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0 for £247 and save myself the extra?

I cant afford a 980Ti, but would the 980 be worth it over the 970 at these prices?

I recently bought a 970 and game at 1440p. You can overclock it to near stock 980 performance, but then on the other hand some people forget the 980 can be overclocked too

Playing GTA 5 on my overclocked 970 at 1440p with a mix of very high/high settings with no AA, I pretty much always get 60fps. In the short time I tested Witcher 3, it was about 45fps on Ultra.

I'd say if you're willing to put money in, get the 980 but if not the 970 is still a great card, especially at 1080p but still performs great at 1440p! The reason I went for a 970 is because I usually upgrade every 18 months so spending £300+ wasn't really something I was prepared to do.

Went with the Gigabyte GTX 980 Windforce in the end, it came with stock clock and boost speeds but It seems to OC quite well.

Only taken it up to 1528mhz boost, and 7.8ghz memory and decided not to push any further so not sure how much more it will take. It doesn't seem to get above 70c max temp either which seems pretty reasonable to me.

Anyways, from first glance in terms of FPS, its a huge boost over my 670.
