Hi guys, first post so be gentle :P
Im getting a full upgrade over the next few weeks with any luck, cash is slowly becoming available but im wondering about a few choices.
Im going with an e6750 c2d, Ive been an amd man all my pc life but the bang for bucks demands a switch i believe. (any comments welcome on this point too)
But my main concern is graphics. Im an eat drink and sleep at the pc gamer and leader of a moderatly sized european clan, but our original roots in the Unreal Tournament series have taken an unusual turn with most of us having a relaxing few months in Guild wars. I dont wanna realy leave myself incapable of playing UT3 though, if it ever comes out :P So gearing up for the not too intensive GW wouldnt suffice.
My original choice was an 8800gts 320 (budget is bang on for me)
But now with the new 2900pro im left in a quandry :P
I dont game above 1280x1024 and am not likely too for a while either. I would be more than happy to delve for my first time into oc on a 2900pro to gain xt speeds, but is that the right choice. Also, i am realy unsure due to conflicting reports on what psu i would need to run these beasts. I know my current wont handle it ( no name 550 ) but what kind of size and stuff should i be looking for. Most come with 1 x 6pin, yet the card appears from what i have read to require 2?? Does this mean my choice must have 2 x 6 pins?
Sorry for the long first post, and thanks for any help in advance :)

Yes i belive the HD2900 Pro would be a good choice for you. :)

A Power Supply from a good brand like Seasonic/Corsair, Tagan, Enermax etc, you would only need say a 500 wattage PSU.

My only questions are what engine (dx or opengl) is UT3 based on and what hardware is it likely to perform better on?

Matthew

Well the current series uses Dx, and from what i can gather so will UT3. DX10 i believe. I currently use a 6800gt and have used Nvidia pretty much all the way through. The last ati i owned was a 9600 pro :P
