GPU Client Icon

I was bored at the weekend and noticed the GPU client didn't have an icon, which made my Quick Launch Bar look untidy!

So, boredom being the mother of invention, I created an icon. I bet it'll be better than Stanford's effort!

So, first of all you will need the icon file.

Once you have the file, stick it in your GPU Client's program folder.

Now, you can't add the icon to the [email protected] directly... instead make a shortcut and place it wherever it is going to live [Quick Launch in my case]. Right-click the shortcut and click Properties, under the Shortcut tab you should see a button that says Change Icon...

Click it

Click browse, find where you deposited the file and click OK. Then click OK again. Then OK again...

Tada! You have a nice shiny icon courtesy of SiriusB. Since the icon file is living in the GPU client folder you should be able to move the shortcut anywhere you like and it wont lose the new icon.

Didn't notice any popups. But I use a quality browser

Sorry for any inconvenience though. Photobucket wouldn't take an .ico file so just went for the first free file hosting site. Will use Mr Sprout's uploader in future

I'm using Firefox v2.0 with Adblock but somehow seemed to get a pop-up still, very strange

I have v2.0 and Adblock. Zero popups. Just a bar in FF telling me it had blocked em.

Also, I took billy up on his suggestion, updated the link to the beansprouts uploader... hope he doesn't mind! Done the same to my OP.

argh... I have lost the psd file for the icon

Not a massive problem but I have to tweak all over again... however, I can't seem to find a font that looks as good as the ATi one! It stands out really well, but no other font looks the same.

I will have another stab at it tomorrow!
