GPU clock problem? 4870?

hi all this card is 3 days old! is this right?
i thought the default gpu clock is 750MHZ but at the bottom of cc it says current clock settings 500MHZ?

Edit ignore memory clock i somehow turned it to 1100MHZ should be 900MHZ

Looks fine & will jump to 750 in 3D mode.

ah so its like speedstep on a CPU it will idle at 500MHZ then goto 750MHZ when gaming?

was worried then thought i had a dodgy card very clever of ATI to introduce this lower GPU clock on idle

all modern cards do it - even nvidias. saves juice since all cards can handle 2d desktops (inc aero) with very little speed.
