GPU cooler change?

I have the Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 OC WindForce but am quite surprised how loud the fan is at anything over 53% fan speed.

I know the windforce cooler has a bad rep, reviews of the card and opinions of it pretty much said the same thing.

I have looked at some options (bar water cooling it) but most of the aftermarket coolers apply to reference design cards.

My old HIS 7950 was reference and that sounded like a jet taking off but i would say that it was quieter than the windforce cooler.

Anybody else on here switch from the windforce cooler and what did they use??

Sickener was this was a b-grade from OC but didn't have a picture so it didn't appear on the b-grade section (grabbed it straight away)

If i had waited one day i could have had the Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC for £10 less :(

Thinking about using my old h50 corsair hydro cooler with this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-029-CS&groupid=701&catid=2330

My card is on the compatibility list too here http://www.corsair.com/en/blog/2014/october/hg10_installation_video

Would mean that the h50 rad would be attached inside the side of my case with a fan sucking the air into the rad.

So, assuming that the Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 OC WindForce is indeed reference dimensions, are there any better options than what i have suggested??

Just one thing that I tend to add when I see the HG10 discussed.

You need a blower style fan for it to work. Its meant to be only fitted in place of the blowe style cooler which the Windforce does not have I believe.

Accelero are good coolers....using the 7950 version on my cards and they are very quiet at 100% and 20c+ cooler than stock coolers were.

Yeah, just noticed that, requires a fan blower to be added to some cards.

And apparently you can't buy them either !!

Its very misleading on both the Corsair page (unless you watch the vid) and the item page at OCUK.
I was already to buy the Nvidia version but I think they have canned it for some reason.
If you have access to Members Market quite often you can pick one up, I got a reference cooler in the past for £20 from their.

To be honest I have two of the NZXT Kraken G10's and they are the same price, come with a fan and work brilliantly.
Bit fiddly to fix. I also purchased the 12 ram heatsink pack too for the RAM.
