The Gelid Icy Cool can be had cheaper than the Arctic Accellero IV. Does anyone have experience of either, or preferably both?

My card is an XFX 7950 (yeah, yeah I know :() so pretty much anything will be an improvement LOL

Edit: Damn. Not sure either solution will fit my particular card  No mention of 7950 at all in descriptions I've seen so far...

only have experience of the arctic accelero, used it on my 7970 and its fantastic but rather large/long so make sure it will fit in your case, certainly does the job and its utterly silent

temps don't go above 60c with 1150/1700 clocks run 24/7

Does seem to get good reviews in other places.

I've seen others say that the Gelid really needs a Zalman fanmate or similar to control fans (otherwise it's 100%) but don't know how loud it gets.

I've got a HAF932 case which is pretty humungous but was planning on crossfiring this with a Gigabyte 280X (which has a pretty meaty cooler by itself) so not 100% sure it'll fit. Be tight up against the bottom mounted PSU at any rate...

I've sold quite a few pwm to 3 pin converters for Gelid users which suggests to me that the stock fan setup is a little noisier at idle than some would like. With one of these bad boys installed the fans are tamed and work really well adapting to VGA temperature and adjusting speed accordingly. I've also done custom converters for dual Gelid action.

The Arctic apparently works directly off the card's own pwm signal so should theoretically have good speed control.

i think you would be able to xfire them, pretty sure i can squeeze in another card, ill look later and post a pic

EDIT: the money you spend on a new 280 and a cooler for your 7950 you might aswell sell the 7950 and put the money toward a single 290 card

Hi wazza, I only just got the 280X (from the bay @ £117) and it wouldn't xfire with a 290 of course. Would sell the 7950 but they aren't going for much these days, especially XFX ones! :(

I had an Accelero cooler on my old Asus 6950, ran it with a pretty hefty overclock running 100% 24/7 for months Folding@Home and it topped out at like 60C, the fans never went above or below 15% either.
