Hello guys,
Recently my gpu (hd 7850) has died due to black screen when updating drivers.
So i was looking to buy a new gpu but i dont know what to get. I want a gpu thats capable of getting around 60 or more fps on high settings for 1-3 hours of gaming.
I have a budget of 150(can go a little bit higher)
I was thinking of getting:
  • rx 560
  • rx 570
  • rx 580
  • waiting for the new navi gpus
  • upgrading my cpu to a ryzen cpu and also use it as a gpu
my specs:
cpu fx-6300
PSU 520w
1x SSD
3x HDD 7.2RPM
What should i get?
Thanks for your help
(I might have put this on the wrong forum, as i am new)

Are you 100% it's your GPU that is dead?

Did you test another card in the slot?

Also, what brand/model is that PSU?

  1. i guess, when i tried installing the amd drivers theres a black screen and nothing happend
  2. i havent tested another card in the slot as i dont have a spare one
  3. Seasonic S12II 80+ bronze

I would confirm '2' before committing to buying another card. If there is a hardware problem it could be the motherboard, or other...

Have you tried a simple CMOS reset?

not yet
i have tried new fresh installation of windows 10/ old drivers that came with the gpu(2012 catalyst); old drivers that i was using previously(december 2018) and the latest ones (i have tried ddu and amd cleanup tool as well in safe mode)
all of them give a black screen when installing and the only thing that works is the windows basic display adapter

i am going to try the other pcie slot as well
the motherboard is a asus m5a97 evo r2.0

Try a semi-skeleton setup - 1 stick, CPU/FAN, GPU and your windows drive. Unplug the power to all other devices. See what happens...

You could also consider updating the BIOS if it's not the latest release.

Also, as there seems to have been a few strange issues fixed by this recently - and your motherboard is certainly old enough - change the motherboard battery. You will need a CR2032.

ive had an AMD go "Black" before boards ok as stuck other one in and worked ok Some of there GPU's don't seem to like some drivers!
Maybe they have Dyslexic Driver writers?
