So if any of you haven't already, deshrouding is awesome. I did it on my Sapphire Pulse Vega 56 as i was sick to death of the stupid stock fans.

(Merry Christmas btw).

I initially put on two 120mm slim Noctua fans. They were much quieter but still kinda loud at load.

Then, seeing that a lot of the surface covered is overhanging and thus wasted, I bought some Artic F9's and tried them.

The results are around 1/2C lower (or well, negilible) but the sound profile is much better? Also, these fans are damn cheap.

So yeah, go Artic.

FYI I've had like 4 Old Fashionds merry christmas

Think you guys might have misread a bit of what @Pocket10s is saying; the 1 to 2C lower is compared to the 120mm fans they previously had strapped on it already. Or in short, they had already deshrouded and used third party fans already, only now they decided to go with some smaller 92mm fans which appears to fit better and is a bit more quieter than the 120mm fans in their previously.

Personally, when I did the same thing for my RX580, I went with oversized A12x25s strapped onto the remaining HS. But as I was after silence or as quiet as possible, my temps remained high (83C), but the noise level dropped significantly after the deshroud mod and the fans kept at 55% or lower.

Of course, it won't work in all cases (some of the Heatsinks on GPU's are just badly designed, making strapping fans onto them impossible, or just outright badly designed and terrible at removing the required heat), but when it does work, you can get much better performance out of them; either from a lower noise profile, better overclock, or better temps (Or a combination of, if you're lucky).

Yep, the temp differences with the deshroud vs stock is around 4-5C lower but its the noise difference thats the MASSIVE difference.

My Vega56 sapphire is very quiet, silent with no load (fans are off). Seems a lot of trouble for 1c of a temp difference?

My fans are off too with no load, but under load they are load and make a very annoying sound profile with the stock fans.
