GPU Fan profile advice

I was wondering about the the best way to manage the GPU fan profiles on my RX 6800XT. I have the setting in AMD software to have the zero fan below 50 degrees, but I find that in some games I find the fan kicks in really high, even though the GPU temperature does not seem to be particularly high. Not sure if its game related or due to settings?

For example Jurassic Park Evolution 2 and Homeworld Remastered seem to send the fans crazy, and Homeworld in particular would not be a game that i would expect to push the GPU that much. On this game the GPU sensor on my Kraken AIO shows 41 degrees and and fans sounded really high. I know that the Kraken CAM temps would not be exact but when I have compared to HWInfo there is usually only a few degrees in it on the CPU and GPU temps.

My previous GPU was an Nvidia and to be honest I never touched the fan profile and while the fans obviously were working when the GPU temps were hitting the high 70's, the fans did not seem to kick in quite so aggressively. I game on a 1440p monitor with the refresh rate set at 120hz. I have the AMD Chill set with Min FPS 60 and Max 120 FPS.

Is it better to set to one of the standard profiles such as Quiet or Balanced, or use a custom profile and try to smooth the fan curve a bit. I was wondering about reducing the Max Fan speed slider down from 100%, as I guess if the GPU gets too high it will throttle anyway?

I have a couple of AMD cards. A 6500xt and 6800. The fans on the 6800 were quiet out of the box. The fans on the 6500xt were by far and away the nosiest I have heard on any card. I set the fan curves in each game profile (using the AMD software) and they now keep the 6500xt cool while staying quite.
The 6800xt does tend to run a fair bit hotter than the 6800 so I can't make any recommendations on settings. I would suggest you can monitor your gpu temps by bringing up the performance overlay. CRTl + SHIFT + o. If the temps are acceptable you can keep adjusting the fan curve to lower the speed until you get the temps and fan speed to stay how you want them.

(I also tend to cap fps to 30 or 60 in strategy games depending on if they are turn based or real time, this saves electricity and makes the fans quieter)

Thanks, I'll have a play around with the fan curve while in games. It may be that the card model is also a loud one anyway but worth having a tinker with the settings, especially if I can set different profiles per game. I'd forgotten about the custom game profiles in the AMD software
