Hi folks,
Im currently using a Gigabyte gtx480 SOC which is notorious for poor heat performance, its been good to me so far though recently ive had this strange problem where after a heavy gaming session the fan speed alternates from low to high in a slow revving motion, afterburner reports the RPM as going from 0 to 400 (or so) even though its audibly louder, setting the fan speed to 100% doesn't effect this rpm report like it normally would otherwise.
This only occurs after several hours gaming and under normal operation the fan speed acts as it normally should and the speeds are reported correctly, my temps idle around 60 and can go 80+ under heavy load.
I've no idea what is causing this odd behavior, any ideas?
