Recently moved my hardware into a test bench style case and noticed when I shutdown the pc one of the two fans on my GPU will spin for about a second then stop (GTX970). then about 4 seconds later it will spin again for 1 second. It repeats this process over and over.
I have 2 monitors connected, one with Display port (phillips 40" 4k) and one with Dual Link DVI (Hazro 27" 1440p 10bit).
I usually just leave them turned on and let them go into sleep mode when I shut the pc down.
However it seems turning the DL DVI monitor off properly makes the fan stop spinning. Its like it is drawing power from the monitor. Nothing displays on the screen and the monitor stays in sleep mode when its spinning the fan.
So I know how to stop it doing it but just wondered if this was normal? Or if its a fault (if so is the monitor faulty or the GPU)? Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas why its doing it?
Thanks in advance
Macca
