gpu fans on fan controller?

Hey all, looking for some help/inspiration please,

I'm fed up of having to manually change my sli'd 8800gtx's fan speeds to my liking (or am i just lazy?) I would use rivatuner but this only seems to work on one of the gpus and not the other.

So ideally i'd like to wire up the gpu fans to my fancontroller for easy access.

Here comes the glitch: the gpu fan connectors aren't standard size as far as i'm aware, they are four pin headers but smaller than a standard 3pin fan header.

Anyone got any suggestions as to how to get the stock fans into a standard fan header? adapters? bit of wire cutting? (i would've done this but unsure of the purpose of the four wires - I assume power, ground, control and temp monitoring, but could be wrong!)

yeah, some nice aftermarket coolers with decent fans on them.

should be able to go passive if you have good airflow

Would love to get some aftermarket stuff, but due to my setup, any cooler cannot be any bigger (height-off-card-wise) than the stock cooler

I was really looking at a cheaper, low tech solution! lol

Theres only two wires that matter the 12v and the negative. Ive controlled the gpu fan with a fan controller before.
Just getting the wire to reach is probably the biggest obstacle. Then just make sure the two power wires are hooked up to the fan controller in the right way, if it cant be shoved on then your'll have to buy or bodge an adapter

yeah think i'm gonna do some careful modding so the powerleads go to my fan controller, length isnt an issue as controller has extension cables, but dont want to bodge it too much incase i have the joy of an RMA in the future...
