Hey,

just wondering if someone can walk me through a GPU flash with a bootable device (usb). I've seen a few tutorials around but none of them were very descriptive

(download links appreciated)

What GPU do you have? You can flash through Windows using Winflash, which makes the whole process much easier.

7950, yeah ive also read a few tutorials on using ATIwinflash from inside windows and i belive its not as safe as the bootable option. Also i tried it twice with ATIwinflash and received a error both times (but no harm was done to my bios)

First error: Unknown SPI
Second error: ROM programming fail

Well with a 7950, they have dual BIOSes, so you really can't go wrong with flashing them.

I took to using ATiWinflash through the command prompt rather than the GUI as I was getting errors using the GUI too.

Have you tried using the command prompt?

Sorry to hijack the thread but I cant seem to PM you spoffle, I was wondering if you could PM me the Gigabyte BIOS that skyjawa sent to you? The one to flash the 7950 to 7970? Sorry again.

Also I used this guide : http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/46707-ms-dos-bootable-flash-drive-create.html

Thanks the guide looks really easy to follow, just gotta another question. What do i do with the Bios file? Simply drop it on the USB stick?

And what is the command i use, i asked this question before on another thread but cannot seem to find it -_-

I just booted my PC on my other bios to try a atiflash (with a usb) but before i did i checked GPU-Z and MSI AB and it seems im running F43 already :s. So im guessing even though i got an error when i did a Atiwinflash it must have worked

Is this ok? Since it got a error but seems to of worked

*Ahh nvm seems that it is still voltage locked

I reflashed with a backup i made of my old bios but it reads 900mhz core / 1000mhz default, i dont understand why core does not read 1000mhz
