Hiya guys im looking at getting a 2560x1440 monitor very soon and i know my HD7850 is not going to be juicy enough to run that resolution and have decent settings i currently play BF3 on max settings on 1080p, im currently looking at a 7950 on OCUK what kinda settings will i be able to play the latest games on the new res? Any different ideas would be great :)

Setup:
i5 2500k
Hd7850
8gb ddr3

You should be able to max most games at that resolution with a 7950 - but I'd be tempted to go for a 7970 just in case. Or a GTX-680 if you want to go with nVidia this time. This all depends on what your budget is anyway.

Im not looking to xfire/sli due to many problems and the cost i have a coolermaster 620w realpower psu which has 43amps over its 3 12v rails just looking for a single card upgrade that will play decently on 1440 res without lower the settings too much that makes it look terrible compared to what im playing at atm :)

Unless you think xfiring my 7850 would be a good idea ? As my mobo only does xfire not sli

Your PSU I think has 2x6 pin and 1x8 pin. I'd just sell the 7850, and get a 7950.

What kills framerate are anti aliasing, and of course resolution. So if you can live with low AA, then you'll get more out of a 7950. The extra VRAM might help too.

Secondly, I'd probably wait to see what the damage is with a 7850, before committing. Maybe worth looking at reviews, they'll have framerate results for all kinds of resolution. It's not gonna be a Titan, but should work well.

Thanks for the info i think thats probebly what im going to do its just finding someone to buy my 7850 lol. Ive read that AA isnt that much of a visual difference on these 1440 monitors so im happy to turn it down :)

reading and experiencing are two entirely different things

your cheapest route to good levels of gameplay at 2560x1440 will be to add another 7850 (I'm assuming you have the 2GB model and not one of the 1GB one)

a single 7950/70 won't play this res on full settings, ideally you would want 7950 crossfire to have any kind of guarantee going forwards

I use a single 2GB GTX 680 and have no problem at all gaming at 1440p. I also have a 7970 which also has no problem gaming at 1440p.

Unless you need 60fps constant either a 680 or 7970 will give good results and as I always say try a single card first and see how you feel before spending on two. Get the monitor first and try your current card before buying a new one.
