hi all,

Just upgraded my monitor to the 1440p 160mhz screen from predator.

However I do now feel like my 1070 strix is struggling.

Which card should I upgrade to if any ?

I'd think you'd have to go for a 1080 Ti/2080+ to get a truly significant bump up from the 1070, which won't be cheap.

Overclocking is a sound option if you haven't tried it, could possibly get 10%-15% more FPS.

I use a 1080ti for 1440p on a 144hz Dell Gsync monitor and its great. The only issue is the 1080ti isn't worth buying new as they have gone up so much, if buying a new card then a 2080 would be my choice. But you can get a 1080ti second hand for around £500.

What CPU do you have. Is that overclocked as well.

I've a 1440 g-sync monitor and a titan Maxwell and I wouldn't say it struggles but it some games I'm not getting 144fps

I think my next card will have to be 1080ti power or as said, it's not worth it

My GTX1080 does a nice job of 1440p with a 144hz monitor. Even with my old 2600k pretty much every game is 100fps+ cranked up to high.

+1

GTX 1080 here on 1440P 60Hz screen, run everything maxed out no issues. Obviously this is vsyncd at 60fps as I can't stand screen tearing.

try turning v sync off but limit fps to 80fps, shouldn't get any screen tearing but its a decent little jump in fps

1080Ti/2080 is a perfect card for this monitor (I know, because I have a Ti and it!!)

If you need to save then just run stuff at Medium to get the framerate up til you can get the upgrade :)

Probably the only game I’m playing is pubg with everything set to low apart from textures which I have on high.

Frame rate is somewhat erratic at 75-100fps.

Card is the 1070 strix and cpu is an i5 6600k which are not overclocked due to my ****** move z170xp-Sli

make sure effects are on ultra mate, doesn't really affect fps but it makes muzzle flash's much more visible.

PubG is notoriously un-optimised though, so don't base upgrades on a shoddy coded game!
