Hi all.

Trying to plan my first build and I am getting flustered and overwhelmed with the choice of GPU's.

I started off with the Radeon RX480 (sapphire), and am now looking at a GTX 980 TI... or a 1060... I just don't know.

As this will be my first ever build, I am completely new to this. So what the "description" says is all I have to go on. I've read a lot of reviews too but they all seem to be very broadly summed up.

Basically. If you had a budget of £370 for a GPU (not lots I know) then what would your choice be and why?

few points to make...

- I have no interest in VR
- I don't plan on gaming in 4K
- The Monitor I will be buying will most likely be a 2560x1440

Apologies for how straight forward this is... as I said, I am a complete noob.

The 3 choices I have so far are;

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £989.93
(includes shipping: £0.00)

What have I started? haha.

well thanks for all the replies.
I guess the option would be the GTX 1070 and just get a 1080p monitor.

Chances are, by the time I purchase the GPU, which will be the last item to buy.... there will be something new. I am planning to start my build in early October, and I can see it being finalised in late December/ early January.

Also, I have decided on my case for anyone interested. The termaltake X71. It looks to be the most customisable and water cool friendly, at a decent price. It might be overkill and a little too large at the moment with only air cooling. But 6 months down the line I plan to start a custom loop, so it makes sense to get the case now :)

Ok... just looked up reviews of the GTX 1070 Founders Edition. Its £399 but I can stretch to that, and I can take advantage of the free PSU offer that was linked earlier!

**EDIT**

Yep... stretching the budget to the GTX 1070 FE.... Several reviews are consistently rating it in the top 5. Baseline results show it is more than capable of 1440p with an average of 70fps... And even if I have to drop it to 1080p for some more intense games... then I'll still be happy.

I wont need more than that!

Yeah I am settled on the 1070 FE with free PSU... And a 1440 monitor.

Silly question, but can a 1440 still run a game set to 1080? I don't know how it works.

So... if I am running a game in 1440 and the FPS is really struggling, if I change the settings in game to be 1080p, how would that work on a 1440p monitor?

Or am I talking utter rubbish?
