Hey,

I've been thinking about building me a proper HTPC, Thing is I'm unsure what GPU would have enough Horsepower to run up to 4K video/Steams without lag.

I have a low profile HD 6450 but I'm sure this wont be anywhere near enough power lol.

No budget in mind ATM I'm just trying to get ideas on what sort of cards would be enough, Or even no card at all maybe a APU would be more ideal? Or integrated Intel graphics if i go with a more modern CPU?

What happened to the 5700 XT i sold you back in the day? :p

I've had an Nvidia GT 1030 in my HTPC for several years. It is half-height and passively cooled, will do 4K 60Hz, hardware HEVC decode, and HDR, and has HDMI, DisplayPort and HDCP 2.2.

It only has 2GB of VRAM though. I think it is still the case that Netflix 4K DRM requires 3GB VRAM and an Intel CPU.

I've not got a display to drive/test. Is anyone able to confirm if AMD/Intel iGPUs are happy with driving 4K, Netflix specifically?

Depends on workload, but its what steve said.... with the huge caveat of getting any low end anything. The 5500g igpu is quicker than a GT1030 though in gaming

Well I went and volt modded and overclocked my ITX £50 Radeon 550 to the extreme and it now dumps out 80c in OCCT for an extra 200 time spy points :). Im not sure which is the bottleneck between it and the G4560 though.

Bricked and unbricked it multiple times just to see if there were any extra shaders or extra bandwidth hidden on it too.

Want either a 1050 / 1650, or RX 580 with an I3 to play with too after the pentium becomes a lounge PC.

I actually just dropped LG support an email about if they have or plan to release any 4K 120hz Display Port screens, mainly because I wouldn't want to buy the 2020 4K 60hz if theres going to be a better model soon or already.

And any PC, well my backup is fine, to connect to it for Amazon Prime and my Blue ray collection, and remote play gaming.

August 19th for my (highly controversial) media cabinets, then sofa and T.V still needed, then I can finally play Cuphead and such in 4K.

But for Amazon prime streaming I only have 50mbit download, dunno if thats enough, but I actually am in contact with both my council and city fibre to chase up full fibre rollout on my development, and they're at least coming to look into it on the 30th June.

I've seen the Asus full HDR 4K 144hz monitors, but they start at over £2000 for 43 inch! Would rather pay half that for an LG TV, or might simply get a Samsung QLED for less if there are any 4K 120hz ones.
