I have a Rock Xtreme 770 with a dead video card and all I want to do is just get it working again, even with just totally basic graphics.

What's in it now is a GeForce Go 7950 GTX and these are hard to find now.

Surely there are other graphics cards that will work with this machine?

Is the GFX card definitely replaceable. Most Laptops with dedicated GPUs have them soldered onto the mobo thus making replacing them pretty challenging for an amateur. How do you know that its the GFX card that has died?

Did you contact Rock and ask for their advice?

Yes it is replacable, no it's not worth it financially or with the risk of the new card dying since it's slap bang in the middle the nvidia bump gate issues.

Yes I did contact Rock at the time, this was about a year ago and I haven't done anything with it since. I spoke at length with the tech guy at Rock and did quite a lot of Googling as well.

The Rock people said a new one could be had but the cost was prohibitive (I don't remember exactly now but I think it was nearly £400.00). It's just a shame because it was a very nice machine, great high rez screen etc.
