Hi all. What would be the most sensible GPU to match the i9 9900k? I'm looking to upgrade my PC and give this one to my son but I thought I'd update the Gigabyte 1080 8GB card; that's assuming it's worthwhile.

Very interesting question this. What resolution would you be playing at?
I'd think it would be ok up to about a 4070 but even beyond that it shouldn't be terrible.

I might consider holding on to the PC for another year if it was getting the most out of cards of that standard.

I wouldn't imagine you'll be getting mega frame rates but can't see why you wouldn't be getting 3 figures

It'll depend on the game, but at 1440p even a 5070 Ti / 9070 XT can push decent frame rates with a 9900K.

In any case, no harm in trying it out first, before you upgrade the platform.

for what it's worth i would get a radeon of some sort (eg 9060xt 16gb - if going to buy new) as it has less driver overhead than their nvidia equivalent

+1 for the 9070xt. for the price difference compared to a9060xt or the normal 9070 it just makes more sense.
