Gpu for minecraft new or used.

Hi all Hope you had a good Xmas

Upgrading my pc in a few days and building my son a pc out my old parts to mostly to play minecraft.

What sort of gpu would I need and psu to run it?

Minecraft will run on a raspberry pi, it does not need much at all.

Even something as old as, say, an 8800GTX, would be more than enough for it.

You played minecraft recently? It needs more than a raspberry pi. My laptop with a 4600 or something internal graphics just about had 60fps on low.. it's pretty demanding now for what it is, and then you can install mods etc and that really canes it.

I used to use a radeon HD 5830 1GB which was fine and had no issues.

Yeah I was reading up it need more gpu power then it did in the beginning.

So looking up old benchmarks to get idea not going to work with the updates.
