I just want to know which GPU i'd have next, I'm thinking a R9 280x OC £300 roughly.

This is my rig: (adding incase sig isn't working like last time)

i5 3570k oc to 4.2ghz Ivy
7950 3GB OC ED
750w 80 plus bronze
Z77x D3H mobo
8GB HyperX beast @1600
120GB Samsung 840 SSD
1TB Seagate Barracuda @7200 (x2)
Aerocool X Predator X1 case
Win 8
60hz 1920x1080 Acer h6 series monitor
Ozone radon opto 3500dpi
Zalman - K400G Keyboard
3x extra 120mm fans and added blue and orange LEDS

The XFX 7950 3GB is my card, was thinking the 280x but don't know what i could get recommended from nvidia instead?

Ideas? Kyle.

Why dont you wait for the 290 custom cards and save a bit extra? get a beast of a card that will be worth the jump

It's fairly pointless upgrading that card unless you're willing to spend a bit more. That's unless it's not very good for clocking i.e single fan xfx ghost cooler. If it's clocked in excess of roughly 1050mhz-1100mhz+, in order to future proof and see a worthwhile upgrade, you'd be best off with a 780, or 290/290x. 7990 if you don't mind dual gpu in one card. On the other hand, if you're running sub 1000mhz with poor temps, a 280x that clocks well may be worthwhile.

I have a similar setup and to give you an idea, on a 7950 at roughly 1075/1300 was seeing 3dmark11 scores of around 9500-9600. Same setup with a 780 clocked at 1024(1176 boost)/1625 I'm seeing 12400-12500. The difference is very noticeable even at 1080p in testing games like bf4, crysis 3 etc. Anything from 20-30% better.

Upgrading from the 7950 to a 280x is pointless..

Either get a 780 or a 290/290X (wait for aftermarket coolers).

Or if you PSU is upto it grab another 7950. :)
