A mate has an old machine, CPU is AMD 4800 X2, he wanted a Radeon HD 7750 but surely that cpu would be a massive bottleneck on that card, what graphics card do you recommend for his machine? Something second hand probably......

card mentioned would be fine as its not considered high end, low to middle so doesn't need the fastest cpu, modern games will work on it but none on settings higher than medium me thinks for most of the latest releases.

wouldn't spend more on a card either unless changed some other parts like m/b (maybe) and cpu

When he upgrades his CPU the gpu will lag behind
Which then he could lower graphic settings to improve frame rate, whereas CPU bottleneck you could drop all setting to lowest, the frame rate would still be crap.

My spare PC E5200 oveclocked to 4.2GHz is bottlenecking my 9800GTX+ in source games, DCUO, and Guild Wars 2...so considering the 7750 is around 10-15% faster than the 9800GTX+, and the Athlon 4800 X2 is much slower than the E5200 at 4.2GHz, the bottleneck would be worse.
