I plan on( trying) to buying the Pimax 5k+ VR headset when it's released.
The CPU should be a I7 9900K with one of the new z390 boards ( think that's correct ) with 16gb ram
The games mostly played will be sim racing games with the VR headset which the resolution is 2560 x 1440 per eye.
What gpu do you's recon for the above setup.

As Hazard said, 1080ti is absolute minimum, a new 2080ti is a must but even then don’t expect to run games maxed out and Achieve a solid 90fps for the 5k. Not exactly a cheap card and I’m guessing you’ll still have to make some in game graphic setting sacrifices for a really smooth experience.

I still think we are a quite few generations away in GPU power to run VR in true 4k lenses, to get those really crisp images with games running with high eye candy at 90fps. The 5k Pimax is still only using 1440p lenses though, maybe the next gen of VR Sets will be proper 4K per eye with wide FOV. It does look like the Pimax are a still a big improvement in immersion and clarity over the current Vive and Rift sets though so enjoy mate.

Thank you that is what I thought I'll maybe wait until I get the Pimax 5k then get the 2080ti , hopefully by then Nvidia will of came to their senses and prices will of fallen.

Looks like VR is where the 20 series really shines. Defo worth it if you're an enthusiast, and tbh you're probably the perfect market if you're used to stumping up silly money for the tech :D

Would deffo not describe me as someone one used to stumping up silly money for the tech considering my pc has a 2500k with a 980ti which I never bought until the tech was 18 months old. But circumstances are different for me at this launch so I think I will treat myself but at the same time count the £, ssss

I assume you mean you're going in for a 2080ti, but take a look at the graphics cards charts for VR if you mean otherwise, the difference is substantial. It's a real shame the results for normal gaming do not mirror it.

This is what I've read I just wanted to be reassured that spending this stupid amount of money on a gpu is a must if I wanted to get the most possible out of the pimax 5k
This is probably the only time I would ever recommend a 2080ti at this price and that's because 5k VR would be stupidly good. And this card being the only one capable of it.

The best you can afford! Minimum 1080ti

Holy thread revival but I have been looking at this item for quite some time, seen what bonus I will be getting at Chrimbo, so ordered one. I still expect my 2080Ti to struggle but my gripe with my Rift is the screen door effect, so hopefully knocking down settings to get smooth gameplay will be better than the dreaded SDE.

Shipping comences end of Jan but I expect I will be some time after that.

Looking forward to seeing if 2080 to can handle it. Sold my rift ages ago when pimax pledges were still open. Ended up cancelling pledge as I didn't think rtx would have enough grunt. Bought rift again on black Friday for a temp stand in, driving about in karts on pc2 is probably the best gaming fun I've had!
