I have preordered the XB270HU and now I need to upgrade my GPU to go with it, but I am having a hard time choosing!

I was originally planning to get 2x970s, but following the 3.5GB memory issues it seems that card may become obsolete sooner that I would like. I may just buy a card as a stop-gap before getting the 980ti if it performs well.

Current card is a 7970 Lightning BE. (Mostly play GTA V and CSGO)

What I am looking at:
1x 970,
2x 970,
1x 980,
Keeping current card until 980ti,
2x 980 - but not really sure about the price!

What are you guys doing/thinking? Should I be worrying about the 970 memory issue? Would it just be better to get a 980 and wait for the GM200 series to come out?

Have you tried Iver clocking your current card ?I would wait I doubt it would be a serious jump 30-40% ?

Fair enough, as the XB270HU is Gsync I might as well get a new card until the 980ti comes out so I can get all the benefits of the screen!

I might get a 980 until the 980ti comes out. I would love a Titan X, but 1k for a single card is mad!

Even worse is getting a 980 (resale value will drop a lot) then a 980Ti. Stick with your current card for now and get a GTX980Ti or jump straight to a Titan X. IMHO

Its up to you though.

Sounds like a plan, hopefully I can get a decent amount for the 980 when I sell it :)

When the 980ti comes out and we finally have a proper high end Maxwell and not a pretend one like the 980 the 980 will drop in price like a stone.

Up to and including £500+ for a 980 is utter madness.

4gb VRAM will no doubt end up being the crucifix for the 980 so I would avoid it completely. If you want the best and you want it to stand the test of time go with the Titan X. It's a lot of money but it's still less than SLI 980s (good ones) and will last you a couple of years.

I'm rocking Titan Black SLI and it cost me just shy of £1400. Both the 970 and 980 did absolutely nothing for me and going with either would have been a down grade. I see no VRAM issues in any of the current games at 4k.

Given your monitor is 1440p a Titan X would do you proud for years to come.

Then again, so would a 980ti 6gb..

All comes down to money. If you got it and don't care what the price then Titan X all the way. Other wise I would just use your 7970 and wait it out. Personally I don't feel that even the full 4gb of the 980 will last you more than another year if that.

Thanks for your opinion :) - I would stay with the 7970 if I wasn't getting a XB270HU, I know I will probably be getting the 980ti when it comes out, and as much as I would love to, I dont think I can afford to sink a grand into a Titan X.
