Before you get searching for Q6600 threads, first, simply go into your bios and change the FSB to 333 (this will change it to 3ghz), and monitor the temps with a program such as coretemp :

Cpu-z will tell you what revision your cpu is (GO is best) :

The only thing you might to change for a quick fix is to alter the pci frequency to 101 - but you could try that last of all before you start reading the above sub-forums / making threads. :)

It's within budget and faster than the 7750, however the 7770 will pull ahead and generally be faster than the 650, and in a couple of instances, you'll find it for the same price (see my link below). It depends how much of the budget the OP wishes to spend. Ideally, the 650ti would be the one to get (seeing as the 7850 is out of the question), but even then, the OP will be looking at around £120 for it. How well a 650 (non-ti) overclocks, I don't know. Hopefully, there will be some deals between now and New Year; I have seen the 650ti reduced before, so no reason why it won't be again. Just depends when. :)

Yeah, but in your comparison there is 650 with 1024 mb, not 2048 as in the link provided by Kins

The differences between the cards in your last post are :

amount of vram : Giga 2gb v MSI 1gb
core clock speeds : Giga 975mhz v MSI 900mhz
warranty : Giga 3yrs v MSI 2yrs

The Gigabyte model is very slightly faster since the core speed is higher, though that is a very small overclock (on average, most will hit 1100).

So why there is such a difference in the price and unproportional to the speed of GPU? Is HIS better than Gigabyte as a make or what?

The Gigabyte is on special offer. Both are very good, though the Gigabyte is UK based RMA (quick turn around in case the card goes pop) and offers a three year warranty, where as the HIS has two years.

Was on offer, not any more :(

Yeah, so that is exactly why I was asking that, according to all the stats gigabyte is better than HIS, but still cheaper, so I wanted to know if I am missing something or is it just the way it is...

Thank you very much for all your advices, decided to gather gift vouchers instead in order to have more time to save money :) Will try and get 7850.

There will be a bottleneck, though with an overclock (3ghz +)on your cpu, it'll make upgrading to the 7850 worthwhile. If it's of any use, until recently I was using the same cpu clocked to 3.4ghz with an overclocked gtx480 (gtx580 performance) (about 15 - 20% faster than a 7850 @ stock), and everything was fine. Sure, I've noticed an improvement with my new cpu, but I held off upgrading for so long because just about everything ran more than adequately for my needs.

Which motherboard were you using? Is mine going to be alright for overclocking my cpu? And what heatsink in order to keep it stable?
Motherboard Name Asus P5QL Pro (3 PCI, 2 PCI-E x1, 1 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN)
Motherboard Chipset Intel Eaglelake P43
