2070 Super.
3700x.
16gb DDR4.

Playing 7 days to die, it makes a godawful racket. This is obviously a poorly optimized game so it's to be expected, but even after closing the game the card is screamings its nads off. Occasionally it will resume its normal patterns but more often than not I have to shut the PC down (not restart, full shutdown) before the fans turn off properly.

It's a Gigabyte triple fan jobbie, I've not updated anything yet as 7 Days is the only game that does it. Everything else works perfectly.

A mate of mine has a 3090 which does the same thing.

Any ideas on how to calm it down?

Cheers :)

What about if you load something else that uses the GPU, would that reset the fans?

Hadn't even considered that, will certainly give it a go. Cheers :)

I tried that by turning on Vsync but sadly it doesn't work either. Can I cap my FPS on a hardware level? I'm seriously considering turning the GPU down in afterburner, that's how bad it is.

You can in the Nvidia control panel.

I play the undead legacy mod and although it doesn’t do what you describe it does use and awful lot of ram/memory and can sometimes take 20 seconds to quit the game to desktop, I see commit charge usage of 32gb. I use an ssd for pagefile so maybe have a look at that.
