Hey all
Having abit of trouble with, I suspect, my graphics card. I'm currently using an AMD HD6850, and it works great, but recently I've noticed something which is causing me concern.
In certain games (FIFA 12 for example) every so often mid play my screen will go black, I will get a "no input detected" message on my monitor (similar to what you get if you turn the monitor on with the PC off) and the GPU fans will start spinning, hard and constantly. I still get in game sound effects etc, but the only way to rectify the situation is to hold the power button down on the PC itself and reboot, which solves the issue with no further problems.
I am assuming this is a GPU issue, I imagine overheating due to the fans spinning up, but it works fine in other games like SWTOR and WoW, and I have zero issues outside of gaming.
Anyone got any thoughts? I will add that it. Is a very old dell, and the case was designed by a toddler with special issues, I imagine heat transfer and airflow are pretty awful in there, but is this the real problem, or is it something else?
