GPU - Motherboard

Having a problem.. Got my new gaming PC today and keep getting this message when I try open the Nvidea control panel.

"nvidia display settings are not available"

Now my friend said it's because the GPU is on the motherboard or something which now means I would have to use a VGA/HDMI cable which now means a lot CPU and GPU are running slower?

I'm new this stuff sorry.

Basically the GPU is going to make my CPU run slower, meaning now I wont be able to run games at High/Ultra settings?

Uninstall the Nvidia drivers you have and install the new ones from here. Sounds like you have a bad install of the drivers or the basics Windows drivers only running.

I'm going to have to use HDMI to VGA will this work?
At the moment the Intel CPU is acting like the GPU at the moment and it's working harder

What cable do you have there ? If you have a HDMI on your monitor or DVI use a cable that can go from the Nvidia card to the monitor . You should have plugged the monitor into the video outs of the Nvidia card not the motherboard.

only HDMI i have is the one from my xbox one and not sure if that fits my monitor etc

the monitor i have now is using the default cable that comes with it, no hdmi, bga cables but my monitor allows VGA/HDMI though

Okay so plug a HDMI cable from the Nvidia card to the Monitor. What is the specifications of your computer, which Nvidia card do you have ? If it does not have HDMI connector the Nvidia card then you will need to use a DVI-D to HDMI adapter or cable, you may have a DVI-D to HDMI adapter with the pc.

This is what you will need if you don't have a HDMI out on your Nvidia graphics card.

Adapter - DVI-D Single Male / HDMI Female

Then you can use a normal HDMI cable.

Okay so you have a GTX 780, that should have a full sized HDMI port, so use a normal HDMI cable from you 780 to your monitor and make sure to have the Nvidia drivers installed too. Your Xbox cable should work they are full sized HDMI cables.
