hiya, hopefully a quick and easy solution to this one. Whilst trying to fix a friends compo i nicked the dvi lead out the back of my machine whilst running and slapped it in his, nothing crashed and all was fine until i restarted my machine later that day and it would not post.

I have the dfi board in my sig and i know that its down to the gpu due to the long beep followed by 3 beeps and of course cus i changed the leads over.

Problem is now that it will boot sometimes, but say 3 out of five times it just beeps at me and i have to fart about with powering off and even had to take graphics card out today and reseat to get it to power up.

Now has anyone else been this dumbass and do they have a fix for it? is it a case of clearing cmos?.....can't see re-installing drivers will help as its posting thats the prob.

Anyway thanks for any pointers as its annoying now and knowing my luck it just won't post at all one day ! lol :p

cheers

Just try resetting the CMOS. Luckily you can save your settings on the DFI board.

Try the following:-

Boot into BIOS.
Save Current Settings.
Load Default Settings.
Restart
Go Back into BIOS and make sure it's back to Default.
Shut Down.
Re-set CMOS.
Boot into BIOS.
Re-Load Default Values.
Restart.
Boot into BIOS.
Load Saved Settings.

See if that helps. :)

Not sure exactly what bitsolved it, but i took the card out and re-seated, plugged back in and turned on machine. All seems ok now (well turned on about 5 times now without an issue)

Bios was my next port of call, hopefully don't have to go down that route now.

Probably taking the dvi lead out pulled the card slightly out of the PCI-E slot. Glad its all fixed now.

yeah i guess. You know those days when you just do not need the hassle, and wonder why someone else can't fix yolur machine...instead of you having to fix yours and everyone elses ! lol :o

Cheers guys for the responses :D
