i have an ASUS GTX 460, and the computer is not recognizing it...
it has two slots, and when i put one of the 6 pin cables in (the default one with the box) and connect it up to power the fans spin and i get an output, but when i put a PCI E plug into the second slot, the computer powers up but i get no output (output is from the motherboard, DVI/D to HDMI connector, and then a HDMI lead to my TV))
i have a 500W Corsair CX psu
and this mobo

You need to connect both 6-pin slots to power the 460 correctly...
And you need to connect the TV to the 460, not the motherboard.
