GPU not staring till desktop???

I have no way to get into bios, card gives no image until the desktop is loaded.
When the system loads i get the bing sound that windows plays when new hardware is connected then my monitor comes on. all the icons are top left as if it had been running at 640x480.

GPU = AMD R9 290 @ Stock setting, the GPU works fine when its loaded so that card is ok,
Is there any ideas on what i can go to sort it?
 
What video cable are you using ? Try a different one, eg if using DVI then use VGA.

Gigabyte include a utility called Fastboot which turns it off in the BIOS so you can actually get into the BIOS.
 
Just noticed that screen? i only have one monitor and have only ever had one but it shows two and the second is silly small that is to be the problem it giving a different post priority ever though that is nothing on it. any was to stop that?

Mobile PC display is for a laptop. Does the 5650 have Intel Graphics ? If so sounds like you need to disable it in the, erm bios.

Also doesnt look like you have the AMD drivers installed properly because landscape and advanced settings are greyed out.

Robbed the cable from the TV and now all is working fine i ever get the boot splash screen. the cables is a 2 weeks old premium £37 cable, the one i have now is an ebay 99p cable :(. looks like i am getting a second 99p cable
 
Why not just return the cable?. Or at least attempt to?. Thirty-seven more times expensive yet doesn't do what you desire in comparison to a 99 pence cable is a valid reason to at least try.

Regardless of the cable, I'm glad you've sorted your problem but it's not so pleasant that you get a slap in the face after fixing your problem.

Has the bios been flashed at all on your GPU?

I had the same thing after flashing the bios on a 290. I used it as a second card in a crossfire setup, so it didn't really matter.

They are, its a digital signal, nothing but 0' and 1's... its either on or off there is nothing in-between that can make any difference to the quality. its not an analogue signal.

Remember that folks next time you go into a superstore and some idiot tries to sell you a premium cable based of picture quality, a £1 cable or a £100 they all display exactly the same picture.

You might get better build quality on the more expensive ones, go for one that costs a bit more than rock bottom but also don't go for the expensive ones, you might as well flush your cash down the toilet. :)

PS: its the same with DVI cables. nothing wrong with the ones that ship with the screen.
