GPU only loop GTX 480

Hi there guys, I want to over clock my GTX 480 and this is obviously achieved best by water cooling. I was thinking maybe a dual rad, bay resivoir/pump, full cover GPU block and I don't care what tubing, fittings coolant ect... Is this setup capable of a 850 MHz overclock? If not what would you reccomend? :)
 
Sounds fine.

I'd personally get the OcUK V12 or V8 kit as they're much better.

You might aswell add your CPU to the loop if you have your GPU in it.
 
If you just want to overclock your 480 mate and you have the space on your motherboard I'd have a look at a 3rd party air cooler. Accelero extreme plus or Zalman VF3000F would give you those clocks with much lower temps vs stock. All for around £30-40.

my cousin is cooling 2 high oc 480s off a 240 rad - top temps hes seen is about 60c

Thats 10 + degrees less than his old idle temps

he is running 890/ near 2100 mem not sure exact
 
I have 2x 480's watercooled and clocked to a reasonable level. I had a swiftech 360 rad that I had laying around but they made that warm to the touch but still kept the cards pretty cool compared to air and that was with just 3 fans on it, changed it to 6 fans and it did the job. Then got a thrmochil 120.3 and went back to 3 fans and does the job. So I would say a good 240 rad would do 1 card and cpu without any problems.
 
the more rads (rad surface area) the merrier, that is obviously the golden rule, but I have now seen you can get still good results off limited rads - such is the quality of watercooling.

All the talk of more rads more rads nearly put me off because of the worry of sepnding money and not seeing any benefit with the limited rads I could fit in m,y case. I am so glad it didnt.

I have now seen 2 hot 480s that are oc'd high cool well under water on their own loop on a 240 rad - max temp 60c (not my system)
it might make a few more people do it knowing that - cos its so worth it.

No more dual hoovers blowing in your case - a quiet pc is something you only really appreciate when you have it, especially when it still goes like stink
 
Yeah thanks guys i think that when i have the money i lill put a 240mm at the top and a 120mm where the front intake fan is, and would you suggest a full cover block or just a gpu block and some small heat sinks (the second option being the cheaper one)?

You can probably get a second hand one fairly cheap :p
 
I say you be just be ok with a single 360 rad , my GTX 480 toped out at 60c in large outdoor map in BF3 and thats with my CPU in the loop, if you going to add you CPU to the loop as well I say add a second rad or go for a 480 rad or 140x3 rad
 
I have just put my 480 gtx in a loop with CPU using the ek 360 kit and highest temps I've seen is 63c and thats with the gfx clocked to 850MHz.
From what I've read and been advised on here the v12 kit is better but I couldn'twait so got the ek kit.
