GPU or CPU?

Hey guys just wondering what you think would be best to get 1st an 8800gt or a new cpu

i currently have a 2.8ghz dual core pentium 4 and an 7600gs graphics, im already going to buy 2gb ram.
if i go for new graphics then im going to get the 8800gt i think! but not sure which would be best?!

firstly is your MB compatable with either the c2d or 8800GTs?

secondly what do you use your pc for?

mainly use pc for web and msn but do a bit of gamin on days off, but the fairly new games are starting to get laggy on my system. Not sure if 8800gt is compatible, this is the mobo i have - http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=775Twins-HDTV&s=Intel

I'd upgrade the motherboard just because its an As(s)rock.

if getting newer cards you may need to double check your PSU is compatible (ie connectors)

It is compatible with dual core! i would go for a new cpu then wait for the new nvidia cards to launch and buy a new gpu in the 8800 range off of the back of that

If its an r2.0 version it will support c2d's with the p1.90 or above bios. If not I would just grab a new gfx card and think about upgrading the mb and cpu at a later date

always easy enough to do a quick bios flash if not

It does make you wonder why the r2.0 version supports c2d's but his r1.0 doesn’t, same chipset and specs also look identical.
