Hi, trying to decide whether to upgrade my keyboard or gpu.
I'm looking at a ducky shine 3 tkl, which I have the money for now. Or I could save the money and put it towards a new gpu, was looking at either a 270x or 280x.

Current keyboard is a Logitech k340 wireless and current gpu is an HD 6850.
Help me decide please.
Thanks.

gpu :P

I'm awesome with
haswell 4670k
280x
144hz monitor

fear my logitech k120 keyboard and logitech m525 mouse I use with the above :D

I could buy a mechanical keyboard and an expensive mouse right now but have never saw the point

BTW 280x are loud and pretty run hot do your homework before you buy one.

Ducky's are quite expensive for what they are imo, i've ended up going with Corsair and couldn't be happier. Either way though i'd opt for the GPU without question.

I believe you're thinking of the 290.

I believe I returned a windforce x3 280x under DSR because it ran at 80c during gaming with 98% fan speed (not much room if any to lower the fan)
IT sounded like a hair-dryer

I then bought an asus dcuII top 280x and it mines coins at 84c , is pretty quiet until it reachs around 80c.

the only game I tested it in so far is bf4 for about 5 minutes where it only reached 68c, the wind force high temps were also during gaming though and it idled at around 40c. my cpu, hdd's and ssd all sit happily at 30c idle so it's not because my house is hot

Definitely get the GPU as it will have the most impact on your gameplay. A keyboard is just a treat for yourself to make that gaming a little bit better :D

Although everyone is suggesting gpu, still not sure. I know the ducky would be a nice treat though, Christmas and all that. :/

So would a lot more FPS/better detail! A nice keyboard is good though, especially considering anything you do with the rig is through it.

Is it worth spending the extra cash on the 280x over the 270x?
Rig spec is
i5 4670k
z87 gd45
g skill 8gb 1333mhz
ocz zs 550 80+ psu
if that helps.

I recently bought a gtx770 and seen this benchmark comparison.
Might be a good choice for the op as well.
770 are in same price range as 280x, but run cooler and quieter.

I'll have a look into the 770's won't be getting anything just yet, as I'm still saving. Thanks.

Well yeah. I think a 7950 should be really compared to 770, because 7970 is stronger. More vram isn't the only thing. But 770 have higher clocked memory and performs better in some instances, even according to that test result.

Anyone had experience with either of these? I'd like a gpu that's pretty quiet or at least not to noisy, as I listen to music a lot and I sit with my rig right next to me on my desk. Thanks for all the help so far guys! appreciate it!

Evga is a top brand so I'd expect only best from it.
I had some cards from them but not this one.
It does have acx cooler so I'd expect it to be fairly quiet, plus the free backplate will help with temps a bit.
