GPU Overclocking Advice

Hi,

I recently built a PC with an XFX HD 7700 with a clock of 1000. In the catalyst software it allows me to swing the clock and memory speed up by about 20% in total. Is this dangerous in any way?

I haven't ever done any sort of overclocking before so am a little apprehensive to do any until seeking advice.

If it allows the overclock in the AMD Catalyst software, does this mean I am safe to do this, or is there a risk of overheating etc without doing / fitting anything extra?

not really, they give you the option to overclock. it's up to you whether you decide to or not.

I'd advise doing soem searches for overclocking graphics cards and also read up about your model.
