GPU overclocking - Generic

The same thing has happened with my 8800GT from time to time, I never did work out why though. Just lower or raise the overclock by a MHz or two and your scores should sort themselves out.

Ive been playing overclocking today with my x1900xt as it was a nice cold day:D I've got some slightly wierd results from 3d mark as well. What ever clocks i run on gpu or mem my sm2 score seems really inconsistant, upto 500 sm2 marks:eek: differance for the same clocks? But going down after overclocking?

What that guy was saying about the latencies increasing as the mem clock goes up afaik is wrong, my understanding is that only by flashing to the xtx bios would the latency increase, not just by raising the speed. If it lowered the bandwidth why would anyone overclock their mem? Bare in mind everything i've said may be wrong, i often am.

One reason for problems might be the temperature, the x1900 are quite tempermental about temperature eg mine happy at 715:1674 upto 62C crashes at anything over that.

Finally beat 7000 though:)

Sorry it's taken so long to come back, Christmas and all.

Exactly what I thougt, thanks.

I'm still having no joy, 5950 3D marks using only system CPU and Mem.

Starting to think the cards's faulty, temps are fine?

It give's me the excuse I need to spalsh out on new card/s in January though :D

If it were only that simple for me dude, it's so weird. The more my OC, the lower my scores??
