Hi guys, My main pc the one i have just built is fine, however its my wifes which is now playing up. It keeps artifacting and freezing up and going all colours. I have provided one pic of the problem do you think this is defo the GPU at fault. Could it be anything else or not? Thanks in advance.

jezz thats bad

reset the card and check the power.

also what powersupply does he have in that?

check the GPU in another capable PC as well

It is a old pentium 4 3.2ghz processor, an msi 865 neo platinum M/B, Radeon 9800XT ATI Gpu AGP , and a 600watt PSU. I have checked the power and all seems well however i have no way of testing the GPU as my other 2 machines are using PCIE slots. Any ideas guys? cheers

Can anyone help? the problem isnt instant, it can be after 30 mins or so of having the pc on and it either goes like the picture, or goes completely black as if theres no input or just all multicoloured. Would you say this is gpu related or could it be the motherboard?

It will be the graphics card, check the fan for dust or if it's even spinning at all. If it's clear of dust and the fan is spinning then it is just plain knackered.

If the problem isn't instant then it is probably just the graphics card overheating. Check the fan works on it, and that the heatsink is still securely attached to the card.

Had something similar happen with a ati x1600

Your graphics cards gone if the fans still spinning eg not a cooling issue
