Well I have a dilema.

Im basically using my computer for basic like emails, youtube, facebook and World of Warcraft, might get the new COD when it comes out.

Im running on a integrated GPU which is NAFF, it runs wow fine on low graphics.
But im wanting it on full graphics just for the look.

Now im getting around £150 in a week or two.
The current PSU came with my case and its a 450w. So its going to be crap with a dedicated GPU in it....

So im thinking what PSU and GPU should I get for £150 any advice please!

Kris.

I would have said pretty much the same thing to be honest but with the bigger PSU

If your funds are tight I would go with sponge999 suggestion or something very similiar :)

At least you realise that the generic PSU supplied with your system will not cut the mustard and are upgrading it. The 5770 will be a big improvement on the onboard GPU and you'll be able to bump the settings up.

Buy new to have the warranty cover. If you want to gamble scan the used market. With the introduction of the new 6*** series GPU's by AMD today, the hardware junkies will soon be dropping older 5*** series cards and 460/470's on the market!

Try and include a system spec in your forum Sig. It will help guys see what you currently have to advise you better :)

basically just swap my suggested 5770 for the palit 460 and stick with the psu i recommended and you will be sorted. What resolution do you play at?

Well after doing some benchmarking I am going with the the GTX 460.
But what I dont understand how there is one for £120 and another for £250
There both the same but GTX 460 but one has another 200mb of RAM built in or something.

Why is there such a increase in price?

Also, do the GPU's just connect to the PSU with a 4 pin molex?

The 120 one is your typical 768mb gtx460 while the 250 one is a 1 gb version with a dedicated waterblock.

Since the introduction of pci-e gfx have been powered by dedicated pci-e 6-pin connector (8-pin for more powerful cards). In the case of he gtx460 you will need to connect 2. any decent 500w+ nowadays should come with 2.

What case/psu model do you have? If it's something like a coolermaster or antec the psu they come with is usually not too bad. If psu is not needed your budget is perfect for 6850 1gb. It only needs 1 connector as well.

Hmm ocuk psus are not great but should still be better than other generic brands. If you have access to your case right now try determine what amp your +12v rail provides. It should be stated on the sticker at the side of the psu.

As for psu the promo ocz 500w suggested above is the obvious choice. Before this deal the corsair cx430 seems to be the favourite budget psu on these forums. Don't be fooled by the wattage figure it is capable of much more.

*EDIT* as for the Molex to pci-e adapter new gfx almost always comes with one.
