Hi i opened up my pc today and noticed that one of the GPU Ram Heatsinks had started to hang off a little hit i try to push it back up but after a few mins it dropped back down again. I have ordered some new ones to replace it but i was just wondering if it does fall off and i dont notice will it cause any real damage in the short term?

you dont need new heatsinks you just need new thermal tape
The same thing will happen with your new heatsinks as stock thermal tape is rubbish.

definetly get that replaced, I fried my 3870 some time back, one dropped off and I didn't know what that thing was and where it came from (yes i can be retarded at times) then after some days of heavy usage my comp did a bsod and saw smoke coming out of the case. Opened it up and the area around the card where the thing dropped off it was melting and stunk like crap.
