I’m a bit out the loop in terms of what’s good or not at the moment.

Girlfriend is looking to upgrade the gpu in her son’s pc from a 970 to something a bit more modern.

What would be the best gpu that we should be looking for around the £130 mark? Probably 2nd hand to get the more bang for the buck.

Around that price you are probably looking at a 1080TI or 2070 Super 2nd hand.

I've gone from a 970 to a 1080 in my Daughters PC, and it's made a big difference in Roblox. I'd probably go for the 2070 Super just for the newer generation.

Maybe someone will be along with a Radeon alternative.

Nothing brand new. Second hand you could pick up a 1080ti as they have recently been going for that in the MM and a RX7600 went for £110 recently. £20-30 more and you may get a RX6700/RTX 3060ti.

Ahh perfect cheers. Yeah Roblox is a big contender for what is played. Albeit he’s started getting into games like red dead redemption and I think black ops 7 might be next on his list.

I have been suprised about how well red dead is running in the 970 but know an upgrade is needed.

Ooh nice. I’ve got a 3060ti in my own machine. I didn’t realise they were quite so cheap.

I’ve seen some of the intel gpus going new for 150-200 so wondered if they’d contend.

Depending on how strict your £130 budget is, and what spec PC it's going in (i.e. it needs to be able to enable ReBAR/SAM) then the Intel B570 isn't a bad option - it gets you a brand new card with 10GB VRAM

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £173.99 (includes delivery: £3.99)

1080/1080Ti whilst still relatively powerful is positively ancient at this point - but the below gives a relative idea of how older cards stack up against newer options
