Gpu recommendation

Hey, haven't posted in a while and I am yet again confounded by all of the new gpu's and not sure where to go.

I still have the rig in my sig and it still plays most games near max if not fully maxed out (only exceptions are Crysis 1 and 2, metro 2033 always worked nr max just without DOF and things i don't need but with a slower FR, which wasn't too bad after managing to clock to around 920 core etc etc)

Can i get away with supplementing my rig with a better gpu ti get back to maxing out, or will I need a better CPU/ram setup as well?

Obviously the other components may let it down as they are getting on a bit but I only really have the cash for a Gpu atm, and most of the time the processor isn't being too stressed on tests?

Any advice appreciated, because once again a few years has passed and my knowledge counts for nothing :D

Thanks, Chris.

Not as such, cheaper the better as long as it gets the job done

But I realise its going to be pricey to supplement my rig.

have you overclocked the cpu? if you haven't do it will give you a massive boost to performance and 8gbs is fine, my pc uses just over 7gbs while playing League of Legends

Ram is sufficient, you will see a big boost if you go to a 7850, 650ti boost or a 660ti.

I personally recommend if you can get a 7850, do so, there is a b-grade one for 130 in the clearence section:

YOUR BASKET
1 x **B Grade** Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7850 OC Windforce 2X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card w/ Nexuiz, Sleeping Dogs & Dirt Showd (GX-100-GI) £129.95
Total : £140.75 (includes shipping : £9.00).

If you can spend more, get a 7870XT, make sure it is an XT, it has the same core as the 7950 and clocks like a utter beast.

That will be more than enough for years to come.
